Philadelphia Union 2-1 Real Salt Lake result, stats and report

Seattle Sounders ended a wretched run of draws with a composed 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake, who arrived in poor form and left with nothing to show for twelve shots and zero desire to compete when it mattered.

Vancouver Whitecaps produced a commanding performance in Salt Lake City, winning 3-0 with goals from Brian White, Thomas Müller, and Yadaly Diaby to pile further misery on a Real Salt Lake side that has now gone ten matches without a win in MLS.

Philadelphia Union were utterly dominant in San Diego, winning 5-0 with Cavan Sullivan grabbing a brace and the hosts reduced to a shambles after a VAR card at half-time. San Diego never competed.

New York City secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at Real Salt Lake, with goals from Nicolás Fernández Mercau and Luighi exposing a home side that has now gone ten matches without a win in MLS.

Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake arrive at this Sunday fixture with a combined zero away wins and one home win between them across their last five matches each. Someone has to take three points. Neither side looks capable of it.

Philadelphia Union head into Saturday's home fixture against Charlotte on the back of four straight wins and just two goals conceded in their last five MLS matches. Charlotte arrive unbeaten in five but will need to be at their absolute best to stop a Union side that has been ruthless in front of goal.

Real Salt Lake have not won in ten MLS matches and have conceded twenty goals in that run. SJ Earthquakes arrive with a bit of momentum, but their own defensive record makes this a contest built on who wants it more.

Chicago Fire have not won in five MLS matches and cannot keep a clean sheet to save their lives. Philadelphia Union arrive in Illinois having lost none of their last ten.
