Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth result, stats and report

Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 at Chelsea thanks to a Mike Penders own goal and a late Mathys Tel strike, with the hosts reduced to ten men after Cole Palmer was sent off for a second yellow card in the 80th minute.

Nottingham Forest have conceded seven goals in their last five Premier League matches and kept zero clean sheets. Chelsea arrive on Friday night with problems of their own, but Forest look vulnerable.

Celta Vigo have won once in their last five Europa League matches and conceded ten goals along the way. Bournemouth arrive having won all three of their completed Europa League fixtures, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Manchester United decided against sacking Michael Carrick despite a sacking being widely expected after the Bournemouth defeat. But with Chelsea, Roma and Aston Villa before the international break, his reprieve looks conditional rather than secure.

Michael Carrick insisted Manchester United are 'not an unmanageable club' hours before his side were thrashed 3-0 by Bournemouth, extending their winless run to eight games and leaving him facing the sack. The humiliation came with captain Bruno Fernandes dropped amid open dissent from senior players.

Cole Palmer's red card capped a chastening afternoon for Chelsea as Tottenham won at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 2018, with Xabi Alonso urging his forward to learn from a second disciplinary flashpoint in eight days.

Nicolas Jackson's brace against Manchester City extended his hot start at Aston Villa, with his minutes-per-goal and conversion rate already surpassing his Chelsea numbers. Pundits now call him an upgrade on Ollie Watkins, while a contrasting Garnacho loan situation shows Villa's recruitment is calculated, not reckless.
