Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal result, stats and report

Arsenal host Manchester City on Sunday with form on their side but history very much against them. Something has to give at the Emirates.

Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris says the club will pursue legal action against Jamie Carragher over his 'shut the fuck up' remark to Villa fans, but experts would likely find crude opinion a high bar for any real case. We examine whether this is genuine litigation or a chairman's rallying cry.

Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly among at least seven clubs monitoring Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, but a €30-40m valuation and a contract to 2029 mean a January move looks highly unlikely. It's a scouting story, not an advancing negotiation.

Arsenal's appeal against Max Dowman's Fleetwood red card has been rejected, confirming a three-match ban for the 16-year-old just as Saka, Tzolis and Madueke injuries leave the Gunners critically short on the wing. It is Dowman's second sending-off in a month, raising questions about his readiness for first-team pressure.

A report linking Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG to Porto right-back Alberto Costa rests on a single foreign-language outlet, with no contact or offers confirmed. Here's why the €65m-rated defender looks like scouting noise rather than a live January target.
