Le Havre did not. That is on them. When you have the game in your hands at 2-0, you hold it. You compete for every ball. You make yourself impossible to beat. Le Havre did none of those things convincingly enough.

To their credit, Le Havre were the more aggressive side in terms of attacks. They registered 110 attacks to Toulouse's 69. They won 61 duels to Toulouse's 46. On paper, the dominance was theirs. But football is not played on paper. It is played on the pitch, and when it mattered most in the final twenty minutes, Le Havre fell apart.

Toulouse's Subs Changed the Game

The turnaround started at minute 69 when Toulouse made their changes. Enzo Koffi Vinette, Sota Nakamura, and Junior Mwanga all came on. Within two minutes of those alterations, Josh Maja had pulled one back. Left foot. Clinical. Assisted by Nakamura, who had barely been on the pitch sixty seconds.

At that point, the game was gone for Le Havre. Three yellow cards for Toulouse's opponents throughout the match told you everything about the frustration building inside the Le Havre camp.

Ally Samatta added a second for Le Havre in the 88th minute with a right foot shot to make it 3-2, but it was too little, too late. Toulouse held on. Three points secured.

Toulouse's 15 interceptions to Le Havre's six is also worth noting. When Toulouse decided to defend properly, they did it with conviction. The question is why it took them going 2-0 down to find that intensity.

The Injury Problem at Le Havre

Le Havre went into this match with four players sidelined through injury. Three of those absences were rated as major or long-term. That is not an excuse. Every side deals with injuries. But it is context. When you are already short of options and you concede a two-goal lead in the final twenty minutes of a Ligue 1 away match, you have to look at your squad's depth and attitude in equal measure.

Listen, Toulouse won this match and deserved to. They showed desire when their backs were against the wall. But one win in their last five is still one win in their last five.
