Listen, you can draw with Celta Vigo, you can draw with Deportivo La Coruna. Those are competitive results. But when you look at the full picture of six matches with no wins and eleven goals conceded, the basics are simply not being executed. Defending is about desire and organisation. Right now Málaga have neither in sufficient quantity.

Real Sociedad: Talented Enough, but Unreliable Away from Home

Real Sociedad are not arriving here full of authority either. Their last five La Liga matches read win, win, draw, loss, loss. That kind of inconsistency tells you this is a side that has the quality to hurt anyone on their day but the attitude to capitulate just as easily. A 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid is their most recent completed away result. That is a heavy defeat and not one you brush aside.

Across their last ten La Liga matches, Real Sociedad have won two, drawn four, and lost four. Thirteen goals scored, nineteen conceded. There is a pattern there. Goals go in at both ends when Real Sociedad are involved. Both teams to score has landed in sixty percent of their last five and seventy percent of their last ten. That is not a coincidence. That is a feature of how they play. They can hurt you going forward but they leave themselves open.
