Villarreal 3-1 Levante result, stats and report

Elche bossed Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica, creating four big chances and firing 20 shots, yet walked away with a point rather than three. Villarreal barely showed up going forward and somehow kept a clean sheet.

Deportivo La Coruña rescued a point through Daniel Requena Sánchez's 82nd-minute equaliser after Levante had taken the lead through Bil Nsongo. A hard-fought draw at Riazor settled nothing for two sides who cannot find consistency.

Villarreal put Napoli to the sword at home, running out convincing 3-1 winners in the UEFA Champions League thanks to goals from Amir Rrahmani, Georges Mikautadze, Santiago Mouriño, and a late Tani Oluwaseyi strike for the visitors.

Levante and Sevilla shared a remarkable 3-3 draw at the Ciutat de València, with Sevilla snatching a late equaliser through Ifeanyi Ndukwe in the tenth minute of stoppage time, before Levante's Isaac Romero was dismissed for a second yellow card in extraordinary closing scenes.

Atletico Madrid arrive at Levante on Saturday having won all five of their last La Liga matches. Levante have not won any of their last five. This is not a complicated situation.

Real Sociedad arrive at this one in serious form, scoring freely and with genuine conviction. Levante have not won in five La Liga matches and look like a side waiting to get hurt.

Valencia have won once in their last five La Liga matches and Villarreal have taken both head-to-head meetings between these sides. Something has to give on Saturday.

Vinicius Jr has been banned for four matches by Spain's disciplinary committee after pulling Nathan Saliba's hair during Real Madrid's win over Villarreal, ruling him out of El Clasico on 25 October. Jose Mourinho's absence from the post-match press conference has fuelled talk of growing frustration behind the scenes.
