Västerås SK 4-5 IFK Göteborg result, stats and report

Alexander Simmelhack's second-half strike was the difference as IFK Göteborg ground out a 1-0 win at Brommapojkarna, with the visitors' superior threat in front of goal proving too much for a home side that simply could not convert their chances.

Västerås SK produced a stunning second-half turnaround to thrash AIK 4-1 at home, scoring four times after the break to leave the hosts with serious questions to answer about their defensive standards and attitude.

Hjörtur Hermannsson's headed goal on 61 minutes was enough to give IFK Göteborg all three points against Örgryte in the Swedish Allsvenskan, with the hosts holding firm despite Örgryte creating the match's clearest opportunity.

Västerås SK host a Mjällby side that has conceded 12 goals in their last five matches. Sunday's lunchtime fixture in the Swedish Allsvenskan looks like a serious test of Mjällby's defensive accountability.

AIK have let standards slip at the worst possible time. IFK Göteborg arrive in Stockholm with form and desire. This one matters.

IFK Göteborg head into Friday's Allsvenskan clash carrying genuine home form and a point to prove after a patchy wider run. Västerås SK arrive organised but limited in attack, and the only question that matters is whether Göteborg have the desire to see it out.

Västerås SK have built something quietly impressive at home this season, but Malmö FF arrive at Studenternas on Saturday having won three of their last five away from Eleda Stadion. Something has to give.
