Telstar 3-0 Heracles result, stats and report

Mexx Meerdink's 19th-minute finish settled a one-sided contest at the AFAS Stadion, with AZ Alkmaar's defensive solidity doing the rest as Telstar managed just one shot on target all afternoon.

SC Heerenveen controlled virtually every department against Telstar but could not find a way through, squandering two big chances in a goalless Eredivisie draw that will sting.

Twente ground out a 1-0 victory over Telstar in the Eredivisie, with Sondre Ørjasæter's 65th-minute finish settling a match Twente controlled from start to finish but should have won by more.

Ajax were ruthless and efficient in Velsen, putting four past Telstar without reply. Davy Klaassen got the opener, Steven Berghuis and Tolu Arokodare added to the tally in a dominant second half, and substitute Marcos Leonardo wrapped it up late.

SC Cambuur came into this Eredivisie fixture having lost all four of their previous matches and still managed to win 2-1 at Telstar, thanks to two second-half goals and a Ronald Koeman Jr. penalty that proved decisive despite a red card making life extremely difficult for themselves.

Telstar have shipped ten goals in their last five Eredivisie matches and now face a Feyenoord side that put seven past PEC Zwolle without reply. This could get ugly.

Telstar and ADO Den Haag meet on Sunday with a combined four wins from their last ten Eredivisie matches. Something has to give, but neither side is giving much confidence.

AZ Alkmaar sit top of the Eredivisie with a perfect record and an xG that suggests they are doing far more than just winning. The question on Sunday is whether a crowded treatment room disrupts a structure that has been working very well.
