La Louvière 1-2 Gent result, stats and report

OH Leuven picked up a much-needed three points against La Louvière, with Wouter George and William Balikwisha on the scoresheet in a controlled Belgian Pro League victory. The clean sheet was equally important for a side that had conceded ten goals in its previous five matches.

La Louvière ended a run of four straight Belgian Pro League defeats with a commanding 3-0 victory over KV Kortrijk, as Mustapha Isah struck twice and substitute Elias Filet added a late third. Kortrijk, winless in their last five, had no answer.

Hibernian had the ball, the chances, and the crowd, but Gent had the goals that mattered. A 90th-minute own goal from Miguel Chaiwa sealed a 3-2 win for the Belgians and ended Hibernian's European night in the worst way possible.

Mechelen twice led at La Louvière but could not hold on, as a 2-2 draw left both sides with precious little to show for their efforts in the Belgian Pro League.

Gent pulled off one of the results of the Belgian Pro League season, beating Club Brugge 2-1 thanks to a late Ibrahima Cissé header that silenced the form book and sent the home crowd into raptures.

Gent claimed all three points at Cercle Brugge thanks to Emmanuel Kakou's own goal in the 21st minute, with the hosts unable to convert their superior possession into a leveller. Connor Maguire gives his verdict on a damning afternoon for Cercle.

Zulte-Waregem have not lost a home match in their last ten Belgian Pro League outings, but Gent arrive on Saturday having won all five of their most recent fixtures. Something has to give.

La Louvière have conceded 12 goals in their last five Belgian Pro League matches without keeping a single clean sheet. Club Brugge arrive with the form, the attitude, and every reason to make it worse.
