Elche 1-0 Getafe result, stats and report

Getafe showed real backbone to salvage a point against Rayo Vallecano on Monday night, equalising through Martín Satriano after playing more than an hour with ten men following Dakonam Djené's red card.

Elche bossed Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica, creating four big chances and firing 20 shots, yet walked away with a point rather than three. Villarreal barely showed up going forward and somehow kept a clean sheet.

Barcelona made it five wins from five in La Liga with a commanding 3-0 victory over a Getafe side that never looked like competing. Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus, and Jules Koundé scored in a performance that was as one-sided as the stats suggest.

Villarreal have not kept a single clean sheet in their last five La Liga matches. Getafe arrive having scored just three goals in five. Something has to give, and not in a good way.

Real Betis arrive at Elche in fine fettle, having won four of their last five La Liga matches. Elche need to find something they have been badly missing: desire and consistency.

Elche host Valencia on Sunday with both sides in desperate form and neither able to keep a clean sheet. Something has to give, but right now there is very little evidence either side knows how to stop the bleeding.

Two La Liga sides searching for form collide at Getafe on Sunday. Neither has earned the right to feel comfortable heading into this one.

Dani Carvajal's free transfer to Getafe has been confirmed, but only after LaLiga reportedly blocked the deal days earlier over concerns his declared salary breached the division's financial fair play rules. The move marks the end of a 23-year, 27-trophy Real Madrid career ended by injuries and Trent Alexander-Arnold's arrival.
