Chelsea 4-3 Brighton result, stats and report

Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer's penalty doing the damage after Lisandro Martínez was sent off in the 63rd minute. Manchester United were woeful from start to finish.

Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday, with an early Pascal Groß own goal and a clinical Alexander Isak finish settling the match before half-time. Brighton competed hard but were punished for their sloppiness at the back.

Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 at Chelsea thanks to a Mike Penders own goal and a late Mathys Tel strike, with the hosts reduced to ten men after Cole Palmer was sent off for a second yellow card in the 80th minute.

Brighton arrive at the Amex in scorching form, having kept four clean sheets in their last five Premier League matches. Newcastle United come to town battered, leaking goals, and running out of excuses.

Nottingham Forest have conceded seven goals in their last five Premier League matches and kept zero clean sheets. Chelsea arrive on Friday night with problems of their own, but Forest look vulnerable.

Manchester United decided against sacking Michael Carrick despite a sacking being widely expected after the Bournemouth defeat. But with Chelsea, Roma and Aston Villa before the international break, his reprieve looks conditional rather than secure.

Liverpool have scored nine Premier League goals in seven games against 15 in four cup and European fixtures, and Andoni Iraola says he 'doesn't really know the reason'. With Brighton's high-scoring attack visiting Anfield, the stark split exposes a low-block problem that outlasted Arne Slot's tenure.

Cole Palmer's red card capped a chastening afternoon for Chelsea as Tottenham won at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 2018, with Xabi Alonso urging his forward to learn from a second disciplinary flashpoint in eight days.
