Pavlidis now had two goals from this match alone and his finishing was the difference between a comfortable win and a nervy evening. Jhon Durán had come on as a substitute in the 81st minute and Benfica were hunting a third to kill the game completely.

They got it. Gianluca Prestianni tucked away a right-foot shot in the 90th minute, assisted by Claudio Echeverri, to seal a 3-1 win for Benfica. The match was done.
