Last updated 17 August 2026. Two weeks out from this one and already the picture is clear enough. Osasuna versus Getafe. La Liga. Monday 31 August, kick-off 18:30 UK time. On paper it looks like a mid-table scrap. In reality, it is two sides coming into the new season carrying serious baggage from last year and neither of them has done much to shake it off.

The State of Osasuna

Five losses from five in their last five overall. That is not a wobble. That is a collapse. Five goals scored, ten conceded. Osasuna have not kept a single clean sheet in their last five home games. The State of Getafe

Getafe finished 7th last season. Fifty-one points. Thirty-two goals scored, thirty-eight conceded. Modest numbers, but they got the job done. The thing is, their away form heading into this fixture is genuinely poor. In their last five away games they have won one, drawn one, and lost three. One goal scored on the road in those five matches. One goal. That is not a team travelling with confidence.

Their last five away results read L, L, D, W, L. They are not a threat on the road right now. Their clean sheet percentage in away games over that five-game window sits at 40 per cent, which sounds decent, until you realise they are barely scoring on the occasions they do keep it tight. You are not winning matches by keeping clean sheets and scoring one goal across five games.

At home Getafe look a different animal. Five wins from ten at home last season. Three wins from their last five on home turf. They clearly have a mentality that functions when they are in familiar surroundings. Away from home, the desire to compete drops off. I have seen it plenty of times. Some players need the crowd behind them to find their standards. That is not good enough at professional level, but it is what it is.

Both clubs have already played one game in the 2026 season. Osasuna sit 6th in the early table with zero points played. Getafe are bottom, 20th, with a 3-0 defeat to open the campaign. Listen, one game means nothing in isolation. But losing 3-0 on the opening weekend is not the start of a side with the attitude to go and win away at Osasuna either.

There is only one meeting on record between these sides in the current dataset. That came in October 2025. Osasuna won it 2-1. Both sides scored. Three goals in total. It is a sample size of one so I would not read too deeply into it, but Osasuna will know they have beaten this opponent recently.
