Seattle Sounders: An Away Record That Defies Belief

That is not a defensive problem. That is a defensive catastrophe. It is unacceptable at any level of professional football.

What Needs to Happen

New England need to be at their basic, functional best. Do not overcomplicate it. Press with energy. Win the second balls. Execute the simple pass. The attitude in their recent run has been there and they need to carry that into this game from the first whistle.

They beat DC United 3-0 earlier in this same sample. They beat Atlanta United 4-1. They are capable of putting teams away when the standards are right. Seattle's away record suggests this is a team that can be put away.

Seattle need a miracle of organisation and desire on the road. They have shown neither in any sustained way in ten away matches. The clean sheet is almost beyond them based on what we have seen. The win looks completely out of reach unless something fundamental changes in their accountability away from home.
