Västerås SK vs Degerfors Preview: Two Sides Going Nowhere Fast Meet in Allsvenskan Basement Scrap

Jay Thompson ·

Last updated 27 June 2026. Match kicks off Sunday 12 July at 12:00 UK time.

Right, let's be honest with each other. This is not the glamour fixture of the Allsvenskan weekend. Västerås SK sit 11th, Degerfors sit 12th, and between them they have managed two wins in their last ten games combined. This is a battle at the business end of the wrong part of the table. And you know what? Those are sometimes the most fascinating games to pull apart. Stick with me.

The Standings Tell a Story

Västerås are on 12 points from 10 games. Degerfors are on 10 points from 10 games. Two points separate them. Neither side is in the relegation zone yet but they are not exactly sprinting away from it either. The bottom three at positions 14, 15, and 16 have 7, 6, and 6 points respectively. So the gap is there but it is not enormous. Lose this one and it starts to feel a little nervy. Win it and you put a bit of daylight between yourself and the trapdoor. That is your context. This matters.

Västerås at Home: Oh Dear

Look at the fixtures, specifically the home record for Västerås. In their last five home games they have won zero, drawn three, and lost two. Zero wins at home. None. Their home form string reads LDLDD. They have conceded 12 goals at home in those five games and kept exactly zero clean sheets. The clean sheet percentage at home is literally 0%.

The overall last ten form reads LWDLLWDLDW which looks almost respectable on paper until you notice the momentum slope is drifting negative. They are not getting worse dramatically but they are not kicking on either. Seventeen goals scored against 22 conceded over the last ten tells you this is a team that will have a go but will get got as well.

Here is the interesting bit though. Away from home in their last five, Västerås have actually won three times. Three wins away, zero wins at home. That is the kind of stat that makes your head hurt. Some teams just do not perform on their own patch and right now Västerås are very much one of those teams.

Degerfors: The Draw Specialists

Degerfors are in their own kind of funk. Last five overall reads DLDLD. Three draws and two losses. No wins. Their momentum slope is flat at zero which is neither encouraging nor alarming, it just sort of... is.

What stands out with Degerfors is how many times both teams score when they play. In their last five overall, the both teams to score percentage is 100%. Every single game. Six goals scored, ten goals conceded in those five. Away from home in their last four they have gone LDDW, scoring six and conceding four, which is actually not the worst away record you will ever see.

Their shots on target average is only three per game. Three. That is not a lot. They are not hammering keepers with chances. When they do score it probably feels a bit fortuitous from the opposition's point of view. But they keep ticking along, keep finding a way to nick a goal, and keep drawing games.

Both Teams to Score: The Obvious Pick

I actually looked at the numbers for once and this one jumped out immediately. Västerås home BTTS rate over the last five is 80%. Degerfors overall BTTS rate in the last five is 100%. Their away BTTS rate is 75%. You do not need a degree in whatever xG is (apparently it stands for Expected Goals, which I reckon is just football people making up words to sound clever) to see that goals at both ends is extremely likely here.

Västerås have not kept a single clean sheet in their last five at home. Degerfors have not kept a clean sheet in their last five overall. Both teams keeping it tight and nicking a 1-0 feels about as likely as me winning the Champions League. BTTS looks nailed on to me.

The over 2.5 goals market also has legs. Västerås hit that in 60% of home games and Degerfors hit it in 60% of games overall. Not a banker but worth considering.

Can Västerås Actually Win This?

The model gives Västerås a 41.3% chance of winning. Honestly that feels about right to me. They should have home advantage working for them but their home form is genuinely dreadful so I am not sure the crowd factor is doing much. Their overall form over the last ten is better than their home form specifically which is a weird thing to say but there it is.

Degerfors have not won in five games. Västerås have not won at home in five games. Something has to give. Or... does it? The draw is absolutely live here. Three of Västerås's last five home games ended in draws. Degerfors are drawing games for fun right now. A tight, scrappy, goal-at-each-end draw feels like the most Allsvenskan mid-table outcome imaginable.

Jay's Tip

I'm going big on this. Well, not massive. But look.

BTTS at yes is where I am landing. Both teams have been leaking goals, neither has kept a clean sheet recently, and the numbers across multiple windows point the same way. If you want to get cute, throw in a draw as your result and combine it with BTTS. Degerfors love a draw right now and Västerås at home cannot seem to find a winner.

Correct score punt if you are feeling it: 1-1. Don't @ me.

There is no head-to-head data available for this one which is a shame because it would be useful to know if these two historically cancel each other out. Based on current form alone though, both teams nicking a goal and sharing the points is the vibe I am getting from this fixture. Back to the drawing board if it finishes 0-0 but I genuinely cannot see a clean sheet happening here from either side.

Västerås need the win more on paper, sitting two points above Degerfors, but wanting something and being able to deliver it at home are two very different things right now for this club. Interesting Sunday. Set your alarms.
