They lost 1-3 at home.
That is the story of this match. And it is a story Eibar wrote themselves. You can have all the ball in the world. If you cannot put it in the net and you cannot stop the other team from scoring, none of it matters. End of.
Tenerife Were Merciless
Tenerife went ahead in the seventh minute. Left foot shot. Early goal, away from home, against a team expected to dominate. The thing is, that goal told you everything about what was coming. Tenerife sat deep, let Eibar have the ball, and waited for their moments.

One game is one game. I know that. But the manner of this defeat matters as much as the result. Eibar's last five overall games showed a LWLWL pattern before today. They could not string back-to-back wins together. And their recent away form before this home game showed two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five away fixtures. The momentum coming into this season was already fragile.
Tenerife did not win this by accident. They competed from the first whistle. They were organised. They had the standards on the day that Eibar completely failed to match.
