Red Star 1-4 Reims result, stats and report

Reims dominated possession and territory but could not find a winner against a Montpellier side who equalised through Yaya Fofana and then had a man sent off. A point each, and Reims will feel they left two on the table.

Red Star ground out a narrow 1-0 win over Metz in Ligue 2, with Jovany Ikanga converting a second-half penalty to settle a match that Metz's goalkeeper kept competitive almost single-handedly.

Reims took all three points at Nancy on Friday night, scoring twice in the first half through Yaya Fofana and Chamsedin Kouranfal before holding on as Nancy threw everything at them. Nancy had 19 shots and dominated possession but a chronic lack of cutting edge cost them.

Saint-Étienne arrive at Red Star on Saturday in blistering Ligue 2 form, having won four of their last five. Red Star are no pushover at home, but they will need to be at their competitive best to stop a side that simply does not stop scoring.

Reims have not lost in their last ten Ligue 2 matches and carry genuine momentum into Friday night. Dijon arrive having won just once in their last five, and the gap in form could not be much clearer.

Clermont have not won a Ligue 2 match in their last five outings, drawing four and losing one. Red Star arrive at Stade Gabriel-Montpied on Saturday with two wins from their last five and, frankly, the better recent form.

Nantes have shipped 11 goals in five Ligue 2 matches and cannot afford another soft performance at home. Reims arrive unbeaten and will fancy this.
