Modena 2-1 Empoli result, stats and report

Modena came from behind to beat Empoli 2-1 in Serie B, with Andrea Belotti and Giuseppe Ambrosino scoring after the break to overturn Gerard Yepes's early opener for the visitors. Empoli dominated the ball and created chance after chance but paid the price for poor finishing.

Südtirol led through Alvin Okoro's first-half goal but Giuseppe Ambrosino equalised two minutes from time to snatch a point for Modena in a match the visitors dominated on the numbers.

Arezzo won 1-0 at Empoli in Serie B thanks to a Simone Romagnoli own goal on 74 minutes, a result that will sting Empoli badly given they had reduced their opponents to ten men earlier in the match. This is exactly the sort of result that tells you everything you need to know about a side.

Giacomo Olzer scored twice before half-time and Giuseppe Caso added a third as Modena produced a clinical away performance to dismantle Cremonese 3-0 in Serie B. Cremonese created plenty of activity but zero end product, and that tells you everything you need to know.

Ascoli host Empoli in Serie B on Saturday looking to build on a decent recent run, while the away side arrive having won just two of their last five. Something has to give.

Modena have managed just one clean sheet in their last ten Serie B matches, and Hellas Verona are coming to town having scored eight goals in four away outings. This has the makings of a scrap, and somebody's defensive frailties are about to be brutally exposed.

Palermo arrive at Empoli on Saturday full of confidence after four straight Serie B wins, but the hosts have quietly tightened up and will not roll over. This one matters.
