Guingamp 1-3 Red Star result, stats and report

Red Star ground out a narrow 1-0 win over Metz in Ligue 2, with Jovany Ikanga converting a second-half penalty to settle a match that Metz's goalkeeper kept competitive almost single-handedly.

Reims put four past Red Star in Paris on Saturday afternoon, with Youssef El Kachati scoring twice as the visitors' clinical edge completely undid a Red Star side that had more of the ball but none of the cutting edge that mattered.

Guingamp and Nantes served up a chaotic six-goal draw in Ligue 2, with Nantes twice leading before Wilitty Younoussa pulled Guingamp level and Antoine Joujou's late strike forced a share of the spoils. Neither side deserved to win. Both deserved to lose.

Reims dominated the chances but paid the price for wasting four big opportunities, as Yaya Fofana turned the game on its head with two goals in two second-half minutes before substitute Brandon Bokangu grabbed a point for the hosts in the 88th minute.

Saint-Étienne arrive at Red Star on Saturday in blistering Ligue 2 form, having won four of their last five. Red Star are no pushover at home, but they will need to be at their competitive best to stop a side that simply does not stop scoring.

Guingamp host Pau on Friday night in a Ligue 2 fixture between two sides who have made a habit of giving goals away. Someone has to tighten up. The question is whether either of them actually can.

Clermont have not won a Ligue 2 match in their last five outings, drawing four and losing one. Red Star arrive at Stade Gabriel-Montpied on Saturday with two wins from their last five and, frankly, the better recent form.
