Energie Cottbus 3-1 Hannover 96 result, stats and report

Energie Cottbus salvaged a 1-1 draw against FC St. Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga on Sunday, with substitute Martijn Kaars heading home in the 80th minute despite Cottbus finishing the match with ten men. St. Pauli dominated the game but could not hold on for the win.

Hannover 96 beat VfL Bochum 1848 2-1 at home despite being thoroughly outplayed for large stretches, with first-half goals from Stefán Teitur Thórdarson and Marcel Hartel proving enough to hold off a Bochum side that dominated the statistics but lacked the clinical edge to take anything from the game.

Energie Cottbus produced a clinical away performance to dismantle Karlsruher SC 3-0 in the 2. Bundesliga, with goals from Lukas Michelbrink, Dominik Pelivan and Justin Butler condemning the hosts to a damaging home defeat.

VfL Wolfsburg came from a nervy second half to hold off Energie Cottbus 3-2, with Robert Glatzel's fourth-minute penalty laying the groundwork for a hard-fought 2. Bundesliga win at home.

Hannover 96 did the hard work in the first half, scored twice through Lars Gindorf and Marcel Hartel, and held on to take three points despite a nervy finish against Karlsruher SC in the 2. Bundesliga.

Hannover 96 have won once in their last five 2. Bundesliga matches and cannot keep a clean sheet to save their lives. FC St. Pauli arrive in Lower Saxony full of draws and just enough to make this awkward.

Energie Cottbus host an in-form Nürnberg side on Friday evening in a 2. Bundesliga clash that pits erratic home form against one of the division's most consistent recent records. Something has to give.
