Celta Vigo 3-1 Elche result, stats and report

Celta Vigo ground out a 2-1 home win over Deportivo Alaves in La Liga, with goals from Ferran Jutgla and Javi Rodriguez settling the contest despite a late Alaves reply through Hugo Novoa.

Elche bossed Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica, creating four big chances and firing 20 shots, yet walked away with a point rather than three. Villarreal barely showed up going forward and somehow kept a clean sheet.

Juventus came from behind to beat Celta Vigo 2-1 in the UEFA Europa League, with Randal Kolo Muani settling it in the 90th minute after Nick Woltemade had drawn the visitors level. Celta's European form is a disaster and Juventus knew exactly how to punish it.

Celta Vigo have not lost in five La Liga matches but they have barely won either. Real Betis arrive in Vigo with goals in their legs and holes at the back.

Real Betis arrive at Elche in fine fettle, having won four of their last five La Liga matches. Elche need to find something they have been badly missing: desire and consistency.

Celta Vigo have not lost in five La Liga matches but they have won just once. Levante arrive leaking goals and with very little to suggest they can keep a clean sheet.

Celta Vigo have lost all three of their completed Europa League matches this campaign, conceding seven goals in the process. Union Saint-Gilloise come to Galicia with a clean sheet and three goals already on the board.

Elche host Valencia on Sunday with both sides in desperate form and neither able to keep a clean sheet. Something has to give, but right now there is very little evidence either side knows how to stop the bleeding.
