Belgrano 2-1 Rosario Central result, stats and report

Belgrano ground out a 2-1 victory over Rosario Central at home, with a substitute sealing the points in the 88th minute to confirm what the underlying numbers had been suggesting all season about this Pirata side.

Belgrano produced a memorable away performance at the Estadio Monumental, defeating River Plate 3-2 in a five-goal thriller that sent shockwaves through the Argentine Liga Profesional title race.

Belgrano arrive at Victor Martínez Luro with six wins from their last ten and a momentum slope pointing upward. But Tigre's structural compactness at home and the evidence pointing firmly toward a tight, low-scoring game means the visitor's form may not translate the way punters expect. Sophie Hargreaves breaks down the patterns.

Rosario Central have been virtually unbeatable at home this season, but Racing Club arrive at the Gigante de Arroyito with nothing to lose and a point to prove after a difficult run on their travels.

Two of Argentine football's most passionate rivalries collides in the Liga Profesional as Belgrano welcome Rosario Central to the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on Sunday, with both sides separated by just two points in a congested table and very different stories to tell away from home.

Cristian Romero has admitted he 'wasn't perfect' at Tottenham in an emotional farewell message as his £34.2m move to Atletico Madrid nears completion. The tribute glosses over a turbulent final season that included a relegation scare, a Belgrano controversy and fan backlash.
