Athletic Club 1-1 Celta Vigo result, stats and report

Celta Vigo put five past Racing Santander without reply at home, ending a miserable run of form with a statement performance. Pablo Durán scored twice as the hosts turned a tight first half into a rout.

Deportivo Alaves bossed possession, fired 24 shots, and kept the Athletic Club goalkeeper busy with six saves, but could not find a way through in a goalless draw at San Mames.

Celta Vigo have lost all three of their completed Europa League matches this campaign, conceding seven goals in the process. Union Saint-Gilloise come to Galicia with a clean sheet and three goals already on the board.

Athletic Club host Real Sociedad in the Basque derby on Sunday night, and the numbers tell two very different stories. One side knows how to keep things tight. The other cannot stop conceding.

Athletic Club have not beaten Getafe in their last two meetings, losing both without scoring a single goal. Something has to give on Sunday.

Celtic and Celta Vigo meet at Parkhead on Thursday with a combined four Europa League defeats between them this season. Something has to give. Neither side can afford for it to be them.

Celta Vigo have not won in five La Liga matches and are averaging less than a goal a game. Deportivo Alaves arrive inconsistent but capable of genuine damage, and Sunday's match in Vigo could go several ways.

Valencia have shipped ten goals in their last five La Liga matches and host an Athletic Club side that has beaten Atletico Madrid 3-0 away from home this term. Something has to give on Saturday night.
