Bader Al-Mutairi then picked up a yellow card at 64 minutes for a foul, barely sixty seconds after coming on. That is an unacceptable start for a substitute. You come on to add something positive, not to hand away a free kick and get yourself booked immediately. That is a standards issue, full stop.

Abha's five completed matches before this fixture showed zero wins, one draw, four defeats, and eleven goals conceded. They have not kept a single clean sheet in that sample. That kind of defensive record does not correct itself in one performance against Al Nassr. The attitude of the back line needs serious examination.

Al Nassr's Clean Sheet Problem

The thing is, Al Nassr will not be entirely satisfied either. You lead 2-0 against a side in Abha's form and you should be seeing the match out comfortably. Conceding from a Fekir free kick in the 75th minute is a lapse in concentration. The response to a defeat says more about a group's character than the defeat itself. The desire was evident from the first whistle here.

Abha, by contrast, have serious work to do. Four losses in five, no wins, no clean sheets, and now a fifth game without a victory. Coming to face a side with Ronaldo and Al-Hamdan in their ranks was always going to be a difficult ask. But you still have to compete. You still have to show up with the right attitude. Too often they were chasing shadows.

Al Nassr win. Three points. The margin could and probably should have been more comfortable. But in a results business, comfortable does not matter. The three points are what count.
