Imaz, despite his side falling 2-0 behind, stepped up and converted from the spot to give Jagiellonia a foothold. It was not enough because Legia were simply the better side from first whistle to last.
There was a VAR check at 80 minutes involving Jeremy Agbonifo for Jagiellonia, but whatever came of it changed nothing about the result. The game was already gone by then. Legia saw it out without breaking sweat and collected three deserved points on the road.
The Verdict
Jagiellonia Białystok were outclassed at home. Their defensive record needs urgent attention. Conceding two goals before the 20-minute mark in any match is unacceptable, regardless of the opponent. When you also have no clean sheets in your last five going into a game like this, there is a real problem with defensive standards and it needs to be fixed immediately. No amount of half-time substitutions repairs what is clearly a deeper issue with attitude and organisation at the back.
Legia Warszawa, on the other hand, look like a side that knows exactly what it is doing. They were controlled, clinical, and deserving winners. If they maintain that kind of discipline and desire on the road, they will be difficult to stop. The basics were right. That is where it starts and that is where it ends.
