Gourna-Douath was booked in the 67th minute and then hooked off the pitch at the 82nd minute, replaced by Jens Hjertø-Dahl. When you pick up a yellow card and then put your manager in a position where he cannot trust you to stay on the pitch, that is poor standards. That is a lack of discipline when your team needed you most.

Hull's substitutions were measured. Sorba Thomas came off for Elliot Stroud at 63 minutes. Lewie Coyle made way for Brooke Norton-Cuffy a minute later. And they did not drop that standard today against a side with significantly more resources and squad depth.

Villa's Defensive Vulnerability Has Not Gone Away

Hull City earned this point through hard work, organisation, and an absolute refusal to be overrun. They defended their box. They competed in duels. They made it ugly when they needed to. That is a team with the right attitude and the right standards.
