Let me tell you what this was. It was a mismatch. A complete, utter mismatch. Rosenborg were better in every department, they competed harder, and they executed the basics with conviction. HamKam had no answers, no desire in the final third, and no clean sheet in four of their last five matches coming in. None of that changed on Saturday. The result was 4-0, and it was not flattering to Rosenborg. It was honest.

HamKam's Attitude Problem

When your players are picking up cards for frustration fouls rather than competing properly, the standards in that dressing room are not where they need to be. End of.

HamKam came into this match having won just one of their last five Eliteserien fixtures. They had conceded seven goals in that same window. They had a clean sheet in only one of those five. None of that is acceptable for a side with genuine ambitions. Rosenborg simply exposed what was already broken.

The Second Half Was a Formality

Noah Sahsah made it two on fifty-two minutes with a right foot finish, assisted by Amin Chiakha. Seven minutes later, Chiakha turned provider into scorer himself, finishing from a Ceide assist to put Rosenborg three up. At that point, the match was done. Three goals in, HamKam had created zero big chances across the entire match. Zero. Rosenborg had created three. You do not need a laptop to tell you who was the better side.

Chiakha was the standout performer. He scored two goals, assisted one, and the combination play between him and Ceide caused HamKam real problems throughout the second half. The fourth goal arrived on seventy-six minutes, Chiakha converting again from the left foot this time, assisted by substitute Tobias Solheim Dahl. Two different boots, same result. The man wanted to score. That is the attitude you need. That is what compete looks like up close.

Rosenborg's Control Was Ruthless

The statistics from this match deserve a proper look. Rosenborg attempted 629 passes at an eighty-six per cent accuracy rate. HamKam managed 327 at seventy-three per cent. In terms of shots, Rosenborg had sixteen in total, eight on target, twelve inside the box. HamKam managed five shots in total, two on target, three inside the box. You cannot win matches like that. You cannot threaten a clean sheet like that. Rosenborg's goalkeeper was barely tested, needing only two saves across the ninety minutes.

Rosenborg also won fifty-four duels to HamKam's forty. They completed eleven successful dribbles to HamKam's six. In every physical and technical category, Rosenborg were the superior side. This was not a performance built on luck. This was the basics, done properly, with consistency and desire.

Context for Both Sides

Rosenborg had won three of their last five Eliteserien matches before this one. They had scored twelve goals in that window. But they had also conceded eight, which is not the defensive record you want if you are serious about challenging at the top end. This clean sheet will be welcomed. It was their second in their last five matches, and the manner of it, keeping HamKam to two shots on target and zero big chances, will give their manager plenty of encouragement.

For HamKam, there is serious work to do. They had three significant injuries in the squad heading into this one, including a long-term absentee who has been out since October 2024. Excuses will be made. I am not interested in excuses. Two of those injury absences were major ones that started during the summer. Squads are built to handle disruption. The attitude on the pitch on Saturday was the real problem, and no injury explains the lack of desire and accountability in a performance like this.

The Bets Did Not Land

The thing is, Amin Chiakha winning this match on his own is a result I could not have predicted with confidence. But I can tell you what I saw. A player with standards, desire, and accountability. Everything HamKam lacked on Saturday. Rosenborg were deserving winners of a match that was never in doubt after the first sixty seconds. HamKam need to look themselves hard in the mirror. What they showed on that pitch was unacceptable.
