Racing gave the referee an easy decision. Accountability has to start with not conceding needless free kicks and fouls in dangerous areas. They failed that test repeatedly.

Racing Gave a Goal Away to Themselves

Before Raphinha's third, Racing pulled one back through Maguette Gueye in the 30th minute. Credit where it is due, they competed for a spell and made it 2-1. Then Asier Villalibre put the ball into his own net in the 36th minute. That is where the match ended as a contest. By half time it was 4-1. Listen, when you score an own goal in that situation, you are not losing because of tactics. You are losing because the pressure is relentless and you are making errors under it. That is a mentality question. End of.

Yamal had been booked just before half time for a foul but that did not dim his contribution across 90 minutes. He assisted two goals and scored one. He was everywhere.

Discipline Was a Mixed Bag

Barcelona finished with three yellow cards. João Cancelo was booked in the 69th minute before being substituted off in the 78th. Lamine Yamal picked up a booking in first half stoppage time. Karim Adeyemi was carded in the 60th minute. None of those bookings were for simulation or time-wasting. They were for fouls. When you are dominating a match this comprehensively, you still have to keep your discipline. Three yellows is not catastrophic but it is something to address. They competed in brief spells but never with enough quality or enough belief to make Barcelona genuinely uncomfortable. That is unacceptable at this level. You can accept losing.
