Away from home in their last five? Zero wins, two draws, three defeats, three goals scored, seven conceded. Absolutely horrible. So the question tonight is simple: which version of Ried shows up? Given they're at home, I know which version I'm backing on.

Their overall last five is LLWLW which looks a bit patchy, but strip out the context and the home form tells a much better story. Four wins from five at home in 2025. That is not a coincidence, that is a pattern.

Injury wise, Ried are carrying some real problems. They've got four players out. One long-term absentee who's been out since June last year, one major injury since March, and two moderate injuries both ruled out since late April and early May respectively. That is a lot of cover missing. We don't know exactly who these players are from the data but four absentees at once, including a long-termer and a major injury, that dents any squad.

Wolfsberger AC: The Momentum Side

Right, so here's the thing about Wolfsberger. Their last five overall is WWWWL. Four wins before that final defeat. Their momentum slope is positive at 0.6 overall, and honestly that number, which our stats mate Marcus would probably get very excited about, just confirms what the eye test says. Wolfsberger are coming into this in decent nick.

So similar to Ried's situation, there's a split personality depending on the venue. Away from home, Wolfsberger have let in ten goals in their last five on the road. Ten. Their clean sheet percentage away is just 20 per cent.

Wolfsberger also have injuries to contend with. Four players out on their side too. One long-term absence going all the way back to May 2025, one major injury since February 2026, and two moderate injuries from April onwards. Honestly both squads are dealing with the same kind of disruption, so I'm not going to give either side a massive edge there.

The Head-to-Head: One Game, One Draw

Here's where it gets interesting. These two have only met once this season, back on 11 April 2026. The result? A 0-0 draw. Goalless. Clean sheets all round. Now that was presumably away from Ried's ground given the context, and we know Ried away from home is a very different proposition. But it does tell you something about how these two cancel each other out when they actually play.

Will it be another tight one? Possibly. But we're at Ried's fortress now and the home form suggests goals are very much on the menu here.

The Tactical Angle

Honestly, the numbers that stand out to me are the goal-heavy home games for Ried. Sixty per cent of their last five home games have seen both teams score, and sixty per cent have gone over 2.5 goals. That is the opposite of the 0-0 they played out in April. Home Ried want to go for it.

Wolfsberger away has gone over 2.5 goals in eighty per cent of their last five away games. Eighty per cent. Both teams score in sixty per cent of those too. So you've got a home team that loves a goal-fest at their own ground and an away team that consistently finds itself in high-scoring games on the road. The vibes are pointing one way here, mate.

Now I know what you're thinking. What about the xG? And look, I actually glanced at the numbers for once. Wolfsberger's xG for in their last five overall is 17 with only 8 actual goals. That massive gap basically means they've been creating chances and not burying them. Trust the process, right? Eventually those chances turn into goals... or they don't and you're left wondering what xG even means. Either way, their attacking threat is real even if the finishing has been inconsistent.

Jay's Matchday Verdict

Right, here's where I land on this. Ried at home have been excellent. Four wins from five, ten goals scored. Wolfsberger arrive with patchy away form and a leaky defence on the road. The injury situation is roughly equal for both sides.

I'm going big on this: Ried to win tonight. Home fortress, positive home form, and facing an away team who've lost three of their last five on the road. That feels right.

For the BTTS lovers, home Ried see BTTS in sixty per cent of their home games and Wolfsberger away BTTS at sixty per cent too. That is a very handy overlap. BTTS yes has to be on the radar.
