The State of Falkirk
Falkirk are a mess at home. One win from their last five home matches. Four losses. Sixteen goals conceded in those five games. Sixteen. That is not a defensive problem. That is a defensive collapse. The basics of keeping a clean sheet, of organising, of competing for every ball in your own box, are not being met. End of.

They have one long-term injury to flag. A player has been out since April and is not expected back until the nineteenth of August. That is a gap in the squad but it does not change my view of this match. Teams deal with injuries. You get on with it. No excuses.

One meeting between these two sides on record. St. Mirren won it two goals to one back in March. Both teams scored. Three goals in total. It is one game so I am not going to build a case on it. But it confirms St. Mirren can compete with Falkirk and can win. That matters for confidence going into Saturday.

I think St. Mirren win this. I think Falkirk's defensive fragility is too glaring to ignore, even with the visitors carrying their own poor recent overall form. The away context changes things completely. St. Mirren on the road is a different animal to St. Mirren at home.
If Falkirk do not come out with more accountability in their defensive shape, this could get ugly early and St. Mirren will not let them back into it. The visiting side has shown they can compete when they travel. That is what football comes down to. Compete or go home. End of.
