Right. Two days out. We are basically here now. Sunday 3 May, BORUSSIA-PARK, and honestly this fixture has been on my radar since the schedule dropped. Borussia Mönchengladbach hosting Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Two clubs with the same first name. One of them is flying. One of them has been absolutely terrible at keeping the ball out of their net. Let's get into it.

Where Things Stand

Look at the fixtures and look at the table. Dortmund are sitting second in the Bundesliga. Second. They have scored 65 goals this season. Sixty-five. That is not a typo. That is a team that does not stop attacking, does not take the foot off the gas, and genuinely does not care how many they need to score because they back themselves to score more than you every single time.

Gladbach are eleventh. Comfortable enough in mid-table, not embarrassing, but not exactly setting the world alight either. And the big issue? They have conceded 50 goals. Fifty. In the same division, against the same opponents. That gap between 31 goals conceded for Dortmund and 50 for Gladbach tells you almost everything you need to know about Sunday.

So even when Gladbach are at their best going forward, they are not matching Dortmund's output. Can they nick something here? Maybe. But they are going to have to be at it from the first whistle.

Reckon Dortmund win this. I genuinely do. Second in the league, best goals scored in this fixture context, weaker opposition defence. The logic is all pointing one way. But I have watched enough football to know that eleven v eleven on a Sunday afternoon in front of a noisy home crowd can do funny things to a game.

What I will say is this. If Dortmund turn up the way they have been turning up, Gladbach are going to struggle to keep this tight. The away side's defensive record of only 31 conceded is the other side of that coin. They are solid at the back too. So we could get a situation where Dortmund score a couple, keep things tidy themselves, and cruise. Or we could get end to end stuff. Either way... goals. There will be goals. I am confident in that.

I'm going big on this one. Both teams to score is the foundation here. Yes, Gladbach have been leaky but they have also scored 36 times this season. They will fancy getting on the scoresheet at home. Dortmund will score, that is basically a given. BTTS ticks. Lovely.

I am also looking at over 2.5 goals for this game. With 65 and 36 goals scored between these two sides, and 50 conceded by Gladbach alone, the ingredients are there. This goes in the Saturday Special... well, the Sunday leg of it anyway. You heard it here first.

Correct score punt for the brave? I am going 2-1 Dortmund. Goals for both, Dortmund edge it, Gladbach fans leave frustrated but proud. Don't @ me. I said what I said.

Dortmund are the clear favourites here and rightly so. The away win is where the value sits if you are backing the obvious outcome. BTTS is sitting at decent odds given the goal records involved and honestly feels like the most sensible standalone bet on this game. Over 2.5 goals is tight on the price but I still think it lands. Gladbach to win would be a result. Not impossible. Just unlikely given everything the data is telling us.

The Verdict

Dortmund to win. Goals in this game. Both teams getting on the scoresheet. And probably a moment or two of absolute madness that neither of us will see coming. That is Bundesliga football. That is why we love it.
