Last updated 31 July 2026. Seven days out. The data is in. Let's get into it.
Look, I watch a lot of football. A lot. And when I actually looked at the numbers for once, I had to put my phone down and stare at the wall for a minute. Bodø / Glimt have won 8 of their last 10 games in all competitions. They've scored 28 goals in those 10 games. They've conceded 5. Five. In ten games. That is not a football team, mate. That is a machine wearing football boots.
They're sitting top of the Eliteserien with 35 points from 15 games. Their goal difference is plus 26. Plus 26! Vålerenga are seventh with 20 points and a goal difference of minus 2. The gap between these two sides right now is not small. It is not subtle. It is a chasm you could drive a bus through.
And here's the bit that really got me. Glimt's away form over the last five games? Four wins and a draw. Thirteen goals scored, three conceded. Sixty percent clean sheets on the road. They travel to Oslo and they do not care. They've been absolutely ruthless away from home all season and nothing in this data suggests that's about to change.
Right, before we all just pack it in and hand Glimt the three points now, let me give Vålerenga their dues. At home, they are a different animal. Four wins, one draw, two losses in their last ten home games. They're averaging 20 shots per game at the Intility Arena. Nine on target. That is real attacking intent. Their home BTTS rate sits at 57 percent over the last ten, and 80 percent of their last five games overall have gone over 2.5 goals.
Their recent five-game run shows three wins and two losses with a momentum slope that's actually pointing upward. So they're not a disaster. They're a team that does their best work in front of their own fans, creates chances, and can score goals. The problem is they also concede them. Eighteen goals against in their last ten overall. Zero clean sheets in five. Not exactly a fortress, is it.
The away form for Vålerenga this season is where it really falls apart. Last five on the road: one win, four losses, fourteen goals conceded. I know this is a home game for them so that's not directly relevant, but it tells you something about the mentality. When this team faces a real test, they can wobble.
Now this is where it gets a bit more interesting. Bodø / Glimt are carrying some injury concerns heading into this one. They've got four players listed as out, including two long-term absentees who've been out since early 2025 and another who's been missing since August last year. On top of that, there's a player who picked up an injury on 27 July with no return date confirmed, and another who was expected back around 2 August but had a major injury and it's not clear if they've made it. That's a lot of bodies missing from one squad.
Now I won't pretend I know exactly who these players are or how important they are to Glimt's system, because the data doesn't give me names. But four absentees for any side is worth noting, especially when two of them are long-term issues that have clearly been managed all season. The fact that Glimt have still put up these kinds of numbers despite carrying injuries? If anything, that makes it worse for Vålerenga.
On the Vålerenga side, there's one long-term injury listed. A player who's been out since October 2025 with no expected return date. Again, no name in the data, but a long-term absentee is a long-term absentee and Vålerenga will want everyone they can get for this one.
Our model gives Bodø / Glimt a 46.1 percent probability of winning this game. That makes them the favourite but it's not a certainty by any stretch. The model also reckons there's a 64 percent chance of both teams scoring and a 65 percent chance of over 2.5 goals. That lines up nicely with what the raw form data is showing. Vålerenga create chances at home. Glimt score goals everywhere. Something is happening in this game. Whether it's three goals or five, I'd be surprised if we get a boring nil-nil.
Look at the fixtures too. Glimt are flying. They've been top of this league practically all season and have a plus 26 goal difference. Vålerenga are mid-table and leaking goals. On paper this looks comfortable for the away side. But home advantage is real, and Vålerenga's home numbers give them a genuine foothold in this one.
Honestly, this is one of those games where I reckon Glimt win but it's not clean. Vålerenga will have a go. They'll create chances. Their 52 percent possession average at home and 20 shots per game tells me they won't just sit back and take a hiding. But Glimt's defensive record away from home is frighteningly good and they've got the quality to hurt any team in this league.
I'm going big on this... Glimt win, but both teams score. That 64 percent BTTS probability from the model backs it up. The over 2.5 goals feels like a lock too given that 80 percent of Vålerenga's recent games have gone over that line.
For the Saturday Special acca, I'm going Glimt win and over 2.5 goals. Wrap that in with a couple of other Eliteserien overs and we've got ourselves a little Saturday afternoon project. Hit rate poor, vibes immaculate. You heard it here first. Don't @ me when it comes in.
Vålerenga have the home crowd and they have enough quality up front to make Glimt work. But Bodø / Glimt away this season have been nothing short of scenes. Back to the drawing board if I'm wrong. That's the deal.
Prediction: Vålerenga 1-3 Bodø / Glimt
