Last updated: 30 July 2026. Seven days out from kick-off and we've got some proper data to work with now, mate.
Right. Polish Ekstraklasa on a Friday evening. Pogoń Szczecin at home to Motor Lublin. Some of you are already scrolling past and I get it. But listen... this one has got more to it than you'd think. Both teams are carrying some questionable form, goals look likely, and there is genuine value to be sniffed out here if you know where to look. Stick with me.
The new Ekstraklasa season is only a game old and Pogoń have already started the wrong way. They lost their opener, sitting 17th in the table with zero points after one game. No goals scored, one conceded. Not the vibe you want at home in front of your own fans, is it.
Motor Lublin did slightly better in gameweek one. They drew 2-2 away from home and sit 8th on one point. Not exactly flying either, but at least they contributed to the entertainment. Two goals in a draw tells you something about how they play right now.
Honestly, this is the bit that should worry Pogoń fans. Look at the fixtures over their last ten home games and the picture is not pretty. Two wins, one draw, three losses. Goals for and goals against are level at seven apiece at home. They are keeping clean sheets in less than one in five home games. Seventeen percent if you want to be precise about it.
The momentum slope at home is sitting at minus 0.26. That is not a cliff edge but it is pointing the wrong direction. Their recent five-game home form string reads LDWLLW. Win, loss, loss, draw, loss, win reading right to left. So they bounced back last time out with a win but the two results before that were defeats. Classic two steps forward, two steps back stuff.
Overall in their last five games across all competitions, they've gone W, L, D, W, L reading from recent back. Two wins, one draw, two losses. Respectable on paper. Less respectable when you notice that momentum slope has dropped to minus 0.5 in the last five. That number is telling you form is getting worse, not better, even if the raw results look okay.
Motor away from home over the last five games. One win, one draw, three losses. Conceded eleven goals in those five away games, scored eight. They are scoring. They are absolutely also getting battered defensively away from home.
Look at that over 2.5 goals percentage on the road. Eighty percent. Eight out of every ten Motor away games in recent form have gone over 2.5 goals. That is a massive number, mate. Their BTTS rate away from home is a bit lower at forty percent, which is interesting. They are shipping goals but not always scoring in the same games. Some of those are just proper drubbings.
Their overall last ten has them on two wins, four draws, four losses. Fourteen goals scored, seventeen conceded. Clean sheet percentage of just twenty percent. This is not a team that shuts up shop well anywhere.
Here is the one interesting wrinkle though. Motor's away momentum slope is actually positive at plus 0.2 in the last five. So even though the results look rough, the underlying direction is slightly improving. Make of that what you will. I looked at the numbers and thought that was worth mentioning. First time for everything.
The prediction model gives Pogoń a 44.9% chance of winning this one. Confidence sits at 45 out of 100, which is basically the model shrugging and saying it could go either way. Honestly fair enough given what we've seen from both sides.
Both teams to score comes in at a 60% probability. That lines up with everything we've seen from the form data. Pogoń's home BTTS rate is fifty percent. Motor's away BTTS rate is forty percent. The model has it at sixty which feels a touch high but the direction is right.
Over 2.5 goals gets a 56% probability. Given Motor's away games go over that line eighty percent of the time and Pogoń's home games go over fifty percent of the time, I reckon that 56% might actually be underselling it. You heard it here first.
Right, here is where I have to be straight with you. The injury data on this one is empty. Nothing coming through. Seven days out, that's not unusual for a Polish league game. I'll flag any updates as we get closer to Friday. Keep an eye on the team news in the 48 hours before kick-off because late changes could absolutely shift the picture here.
There is genuinely no head to head data available for these two. Zero historical meetings in the system. Motor Lublin are a relatively recently promoted club in Ekstraklasa terms so that gap in the records makes sense. We are flying a bit blind on that front, which actually makes this one harder to call than it looks.
Look, here is my honest read on this. Pogoń are at home and the model gives them the best chance of winning at nearly 45%. Home advantage is real even for a team in patchy form. Motor are leaking goals away from home at an alarming rate. Eleven conceded in their last five on the road. Eleven!
But. And it is a big but. Pogoń only keep clean sheets at home seventeen percent of the time recently. Motor do score, even in games they lose badly. So the home win to nil route feels risky.
I'm going big on this... over 2.5 goals. Both teams are involved in high-scoring games regularly. The model backs it at 56%. Motor's away record screams goals. Pogoń's home record says the same. Over 2.5 is my main play here. Don't @ me if it ends 0-0. Actually do, I deserve it, but it won't.
For the acca merchants, BTTS is tempting at 60% probability but I'd rather take the over. If you're stacking this one into a Friday night multi, over 2.5 goals in Szczecin is your leg. Slap it in, enjoy the Polish football, trust the process. And by trust the process I obviously mean have a backup plan because this is football and nothing is guaranteed.
Back to the drawing board if this one is a 0-0. But it won't be. Probably.
Main Pick: Over 2.5 Goals
Model Probability: 56%
Confidence: Medium
Acca Leg Rating: Solid Friday opener
